Directions to Marking Time: Prison Arts and Activism Conference

Marking Time: Prison Arts and Activism is a multi-component program with events at several locations across Rutgers University and the City of New Brunswick. The program includes a three-day conference, film screenings, an evening of performance, and an art exhibition in six venues. Due to its scale and the large number of participants, program takes place in several venues as detailed below.

Getting to Marking Time:
Because of construction and congestion on or near Rutgers University, we highly recommend that participants and attendees travel to the conference and exhibition by train and public transit.

By NJ Transit
For participants coming from NY, NJ, CT, and Philly, the best way to get to New Brunswick is via NJ Transit Northeast Corridor line to the New Brunswick Station. From Penn Station to New Brunswick is about an hour's train ride. Your participant packet will be located at the site where your panel or workshop is scheduled. You can find out that information on the conference webpage:

Parking
If you need to drive, there is metered parking spaces near all of the location sites. Another option is to park in one of the daily lots operated by City of New Brunswick. The Gateway Garage at 7 Wall Street is a few blocks away from all of the conference sites.  Here is the link: http://www.njnbpa.org/parking-locator/

Getting between Locations
During the three-day conference, there will be chartered bus service to transport participants between locations.  The bus will loop between locations during designated hours. The schedule for the chartered bus service will be in your information packet.
