During our 30-year history, the IRW has developed a number of groundbreaking projects to assist scholars at Rutgers and beyond in their interdisciplinary feminist research. For example, until printing costs became prohibitive, the IRW published a directory of Rutgers faculty working on women and gender. At the turn of the 21st century, we worked with colleagues from the University Libraries and the Institute for Women's Leadership to create a workable online database with a robust search capability. The logistical difficulties in keeping the database current with rapid developments in faculty research interests in rendered that model, too, unworkable.
However, we continue to develop technologies and formats that will brings Rutgers faculty and graduate students together to learn from each other as they learn, sometimes surprisingly, how their work intersects.
- In Spring 2008 we expect to unveil a web-based catalog of the IRW research library holdings.
- We benefit from close collaboration with our fellow members of the Rutgers consortium convened by the Institute for Women's Leadership. Check their websites to see the many strenghts of Rutgers research, teaching, service and activism informed by a focus on women and gender.
