- Arlene Stein is Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute for Research on Women. She is the author, most recently, of Going Public: A Guide for Social Scientists (University of Chicago, 2017) and Unbound: Transgender Men and the Remaking of Identity (Knopf, 2018).
